Andrew Johnson Theater, a 59’0” x 54’0” black box theater, is the most flexible and intimate performance space in the James K. Polk Cultural Center.

Designed to encourage experimentation in theatre, music, and dance, it offers freedom in spatial arrangement for both audience and performers, including thrust, cabaret, and in-the-round seating. Maximum seating capacity is 264. This space also features overhead catwalks. All seating is portable. Seating capacity is based on production requirements and placement of seating banks. *Eight (8) seats must be allocated for sale to disabled persons and their companions. To comply with this provision, sufficient space must be reserved on the floor with an additional four (4) feet of clear space for egress in the event of an emergency.
