Wolf Trap brings literacy and the arts together in fun-filled sessions for parents and pre-schoolers. Partnering with sponsoring librarians, teaching artists lead children and their parents in activities that develop a child’s emerging literacy skills. Parents are full participants in Wolf Trap sessions, and teaching artists weave in explanations that identify pre-literacy learning opportunities inherent in the activities. Short “homework” assignments provide suggestions for parents on how to continue learning at home.
“The Wolf Trap program has been spectacular from beginning to end. My daughter, Alexandria, has loved the classes. She is constantly singing the songs, looking for letters, and saying the sounds we learned in class. It is so refreshing to see her excited about learning. As a parent, it has helped me by taking a different approach to teaching my child by making it fun and creative.”
